What leaves from Paddington

Paddington is the London terminus for Great Western Railway, with trains to Reading, Oxford, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance. It is also a major Elizabeth line station, and the Heathrow Express starts here. For most Kingston residents, the trip to Paddington is about catching a long-distance train west.

How we get there

Paddington is around 11 to 13 miles from Kingston, on the western side of central London. Depending on traffic, your driver may go through Richmond Park or along the A3 to Putney, cross Putney Bridge and head north through Fulham, Earl's Court and Kensington. Another option is the A316 and A4 through Hammersmith.

The typical journey time is 45 to 65 minutes. Because Paddington is on the west side of the centre, it is often one of the quicker London termini to reach from Kingston. [State whether the Congestion Charge is included in your fares.]

Drop-off at the station

Paddington has a taxi rank and set-down area, and your driver will use the most convenient permitted drop-off point. Tell us which train you are catching and how much luggage you have, and we will make sure you have the right car.

Paddington is the starting point for a lot of UK holidays: Cornwall, Devon, the Cotswolds and South Wales. Holiday luggage, buggies and bikes add up. An estate car or a minibus gives you space, and if your train is early in the morning, we can pick you up whenever you need.

Paddington or the airport?

The Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line both run from Paddington to Heathrow, but from Kingston it is far quicker to go straight to the airport by road. Our Kingston to Heathrow taxi usually takes well under an hour, compared with travelling into Paddington first.

Booking a Paddington transfer

When you book, tell us your train time, the number of passengers and your luggage, including bikes or surfboards if you are heading to the coast. Weekend trains to Cornwall and Devon are busy in summer, so it pays to arrive in good time to find your seat. If you are coming back on a Sunday evening, book your return pick-up in advance, as that is one of the busiest times at Paddington.

Paddington is also the station for business trips to Reading, Oxford, Swindon and Bristol, and for days out in Bath. If you are making a day return for work, book both journeys at once and call us from the train if your return is later than planned.
