Two Wimbledons

Wimbledon really has two centres. Down the hill is the town centre around Wimbledon station and The Broadway, with Centre Court Shopping Centre, the New Wimbledon Theatre and the busy roads towards South Wimbledon. Up the hill is Wimbledon Village, with its High Street of shops and restaurants, and beyond it Wimbledon Common. Tell us which part you are in, especially if your address is on a long road like Worple Road or Arthur Road that crosses both.

From We provide our service in Kingston, the drive is typically 20 to 30 minutes along the A308 and Coombe Lane, or via the A3.

Wimbledon station

Wimbledon station is one of the busiest in south-west London, served by South Western Railway, Thameslink, the District line and Tramlink. It is a good interchange, but not always easy with heavy bags, especially at peak times. We can meet you there, or take you straight to a London terminus such as Victoria or London Bridge.

Airport runs from SW19

DestinationTypical time from Wimbledon
Heathrow40 to 60 minutes
Gatwick50 to 70 minutes
London City55 to 80 minutes

These are typical estimates and vary with traffic in south-west London.

For Heathrow, your driver may head west through Kingston or north to the A3 and the A316. For Gatwick, the route is usually south via Morden and the A217 to the M25, or via the A3.

The Championships

During the tennis championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, usually in late June and early July, the roads around Church Road, Somerset Road and Wimbledon Park are closed or restricted, and traffic across SW19 is heavy. If you are going to the tennis, book early and allow extra time. Your driver will drop you at the nearest point the road closures allow. If you live locally, tell us about any access restrictions when you book an airport run during these weeks.

Theatre, dining and nights out

The New Wimbledon Theatre on The Broadway, and the restaurants in the town centre and the Village, bring people in for evenings out. Book a return so you are not waiting for a train afterwards. Groups can travel together in a 7 seater taxi or a minibus.

Wimbledon Common and Cannizaro

Wimbledon Common, with its windmill and woodland paths, stretches from the Village towards Putney Vale and Kingston Vale. Cannizaro Park, on the edge of the Common, holds outdoor events in summer. We can drop you at the Windmill, Cannizaro or the Village, and collect you later from wherever you finish.

Getting home after a night out

Wimbledon's town centre and Village have a lively evening scene, and late-night trains and trams can be crowded. A pre-booked car takes you home to Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden or anywhere in our area without waiting around. Book your return when you book your journey in, or call us when you are ready.

Nearby areas

We cover the area between Wimbledon and Kingston, including Kingston Hill and Coombe, New Malden and Raynes Park. See every area on our areas we cover page.
